State Republican Uighur Theater of Musical Comedy
State Republican Uighur Theater of Musical Comedy was opened in 1934 when it staged a musical drama "Anarkhan" by D. Asimov and A. Sadyrov's and is the first professional theater in the history of the Uigur people of Kazakhstan.
In the 1941-1961 years Uygur Regional Music and Drama relocated to the village Chilik, Alma-Ata area. During World War II Uighur theater lived on wheels. It served four large areas: Enbekshi-Kazakh, Chilik, Uygur, Dzharkent, separated by distances of 100-150 kilometers. During this time the theater on defensive subject put thirteen one-act plays, are shown two concerts of defensive character. In its the best performances the musical and drama theater created images of the big social importance, characters of strong people, uncompromisingly fighting for justice, for interests of the people, for social reforms, for national independence. In the early sixties the theater moved to Alma-Ata.
For last years at theater has grown the remarkable galaxy of masters of a scene. There are folk artists of Kazakhstan - Shamiev A., S. Sattarova, M. Semyatova, M. Bakiyev, R. Ilahunova, Z. Akbarova, N. Mametova, K. Ab-drasulov, M. Ahmadiyev, honored artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Zh. Asimov, G. Dzhalilov, H. Ilieva, M. Zaynaudinov, A. Supiev, R. Tohtanova, A. Akbarov, T. Bakhtybyev, S. Israilov, M. Rakhmanova, K. Zakirov, G. Saitova, Sattarova R., R. Mahpirova, M. Mametbakiev, A. Akbarova, Honored Artist of RK - P. Ibragimov, I. Masimov, A. Kadyrov, honored figures of RK - A. Aysayev. At the theater are productively working vocal and folk group "Nava", vocal and dance ensemble "Sada", the youth-pop ensemble "Yashlik", choreographic ensemble "Rukhsara" and the drama troupe.
The theater was awarded the "Badge of Honor" (1984). In 2005, on the eve of the 70th anniversary, the theater was named after Kuzhamyarov Quddus (1918 - 1994) - composer, national actor of USSR the winner of the State award USSR, the professor and the rector of conservatory, the author of the first Soviet Uigur opera "Nazugum" and the ballet "Chin-Tomur".
In 1994-2002 is carried out reconstruction of own building of theater, the auditorium for 480 places.
