The monument sculptor is K. Satybaldin, architects are T. Eraliyev and B. Sidorov.
It was built in 2003 y. for soldiers-internationalists, who was killed in the line of military duty in foreign combat operations.
The opening was confined to the 14th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. There are carved the names of the 69 Almatians who did not return from that war. A total of hostilities in that country were involved more than 22 thousand Kazakhstanies.
